The Village of Lindenhurst was recently presented with the Smart Growth Award from Vision Long Island for revitalization efforts in the Village. Greenman Pedersen Inc. (GPI), also received the Smart Growth Award for their work on the Walkability Study. The Smart Growth Award honors the efforts of leaders in government, the private sector, and the community that exemplify Smart Growth principles in such areas as affordable housing, transit oriented development, mix of land uses, transportation, small business development, community revitalization and wastewater infrastructure.
Mayor Lavorata stated, “The resurgence of the Village’s downtown has been a long time in the making. The progress in the downtown is due to a collective effort of residents, community groups, and Village officials. I would also like to acknowledge and thank GPI for all of their hardwork on the Walkability Study.”
