A recent field trip provided up-close insight into native species of Long Island waters as Lindenhurst High School marine biology students in Gavin Costanzo’s class took a field trip to Venetian Shores to collect specimens for study.
As part of the trip, students learned about local geological history and, using nets, collected several types of fish which will be held in fish tanks within the classroom for further study over the school year.
Concluding the visit, students also participated in a beach cleanup where they collected and disposed of harmful garbage found on the beach.
