Paul Miller and Joseph Russo of the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company, Coach Will Bagnasco and Nurses Tara Knappe and Pamela Zurita all came to the aid of one of the adult players who went into cardiac arrest during a game. Because of their efforts, he went on to make a full recovery and was there to thank them as well.

“As a diehard fan, I always look forward to the start of baseball season, and I am thrilled to once again see our children partaking in ‘America’s pastime.’ For the young athletes who look up to the professional icons in the sport as heroes, this year was especially meaningful as we were able to show them that real heroes exist right in our own community.” said Legislator Donnelly. “I thank the directors, volunteers, coaches, parents and the entire community for continuously supporting our players and those who stepped up and took action when it was needed most.”
