To help deserving students get the 2022-23 school year off to a ‘striking’ start, Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) is hosting his 16th annual back-to-school giveaway at Ultra Lanes Bowl & Lounge on Saturday, Sept. 17. The event is presented in partnership with Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport); TRIMZ Barber Shop and owner Leon Levar Broughton (founder of the Back to School event); Heeling Soles, Inc. and Steve Muir; and Glory House Recovery, Inc. and Terenna Williams, Long Island Laboring Against COVID-19 (LILAC), Affinity by Molina Healthcare and Girl Pride International.
Youngsters from Legislative Districts 1 and 5 will have the opportunity to bowl for free and receive school supplies, bookbags, vouchers for free haircuts from TRIMZ Barber Shop, sneakers from Heeling Soles and other essentials for successful learning while supplies last. All participants must pre-register at www.nassaucountyny.gov/LD1.
Sponsors include Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Clarity Surgical, Nassau County Guardians, Krystal Touch, Gio’s Little Angel Day Care, Mercy Medical Center, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield Health and Glenda White Hills and Millennium Sistahs. The event is further enhanced by the support of community partners and their donations of additional school supplies and other resources.
