Jovia Financial Credit Union, ranked among the nation’s top 100 credit unions and a leading financial institution on Long Island, is partnering with RewearAble, a business initiative of Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD), to host a community clothing drive through April 22. Together, Jovia and RewearAble are inviting Long Island residents to donate clothing while supporting opportunities for gainful employment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
A RewearAble collection bin has been installed at Jovia’s corporate headquarters, located at 1000 Corporate Drive in Westbury, where employees, members, and the broader community are encouraged to drop off donations. The initiative helps provide employment opportunities through the collection, sorting, and recycling of donated clothing.
“On Earth Day, a day devoted to sustainability, Jovia and RewearAble are playing a key part in reusing and repurposing clothing donations,” said Aimee Keegan, ACLD’s Chief Development and Marketing Officer. “On top of that, this partnership is also creating sustainable jobs for people with autism, learning, and developmental disabilities.”
The clothing drive builds on the success of the 2025 initiative led by Jovia and RewearAble, which reduced textile waste while creating job training and employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Donations may include clothing such as shirts, pants, denim, skirts, dresses, coats, jackets, bathing suits, cover-ups, and pajamas.
“Last year, this initiative collected more than 1,000 pounds of clothing and textiles, and we’re excited to build on that momentum,” said Trish Graffigino, Jovia’s Vice President of Marketing. “We’re hopeful that, with the support of our members and the community, we will surpass that total this year and make an even greater impact.”
