High School Seniors Celebrate Heartfelt Commencement Ceremony

Lindenhurst High School proudly celebrated its commencement ceremony for the Class of 2025 on June 27th, marking a significant milestone for the seniors, families, and staff. The ceremony featured heartfelt speeches from student leaders, and administrators, including reflections on growth, perseverance, and words of encouragement as the graduates prepared for the next chapter of their lives.

Valedictorian Jake Albert reflected on the importance of finding one’s own pace in an increasingly fast-paced world. “The moments I thought I failed were usually the ones that taught me how to move forward,” he said. He encouraged his classmates to embrace their individual journeys rather than measuring success by the pace of others, saying “The moments that mattered the most weren’t the fastest ones, they were the ones where we finally stopped chasing someone else’s pace and found our own,” he said. He concluded with a powerful reminder: “There’s no mile markers, no race map for what comes ahead—just the choices we make and what we build.”

Salutatorian Katharine Sniffen spoke about embracing the unexpected and how it can set you on a positive trajectory. Among the many defining moments that positively impacted her high school career, Katherine recalled one in which, due to scheduling conflicts, she was forced to take an AP Computer Science course despite no background or interest in the subject area. Yet, by year’s end, she had gained new skills, discovered confidence in tackling the unknown, and even made lasting friendships. Encouraging her peers to welcome unforeseen challenges, she closed with a quote from Chris Stapleton: “Nobody wins afraid of losing. One day we’ll look back and smile and know it was worth every mile.”

After the speeches concluded, the graduates received their diplomas, flipped their tassels from right to left, and tossed their caps into the air before taking their first steps as high school graduates.
