The career transition class at Harborfields High School raised $1,200 for the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America by selling dog biscuits, T-shirts, greeting cards, jewelry and candy throughout this past school year. These student-run businesses provide them with opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world experiences. Guided by teacher Rhonda Lebit, the students are responsible for making all of the items, packaging, selling and managing our business bank account.

A parent-run organization serving over 4,000 families on Long Island, NSASA works to support individuals with autism in local communities. Through its fundraising efforts, NSASA provides free educational, social, and recreational opportunities to families touched by autism. NSASA also provides grants for technology, classroom materials and community outings to local school programs that serve children with autism.
