At the Harborfields Central School District’s Nov. 16 board of education meeting, the Harborfields High School county champion girls varsity tennis team was honored.
In a fierce Oct. 28 contest between the county’s top two seeds, Harborfields vanquished the Half Hollow Hills East Thunderbirds by a 5-2 score, capturing the first county championship in school history. Coached by Jimmy Delevante, the Tornadoes finished their undefeated season with an impressive 18-0 record.
Also recognized were Harborfields High School student-artists Sophia Dolinsky, Liza McPherson and Gianna Purpura, who were selected for this year’s Huntington Art Council “Nightmare on Main Street” exhibit, and their art teachers, Elizabeth DeVaney and Eugenia Ritter.
