Fourth Graders Get Creative With Poetry Pieces

Fourth graders at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School in the Copiague School District are blooming poets. In celebration of National Poetry Month, they recently completed their English language arts unit on poetry. Students learned about different styles and elements of poetry and how to incorporate figurative language into their writing. They then wrote and published their favorite pieces at the end of the unit. The fourth grade classes celebrated their creativity by having a publishing party, reading aloud their pieces to the class.
