Four Seaford Juniors Selected to Boys State Program

Four Seaford High School students have been selected to participate in American Legion Boys State, a leadership action program. Craig Ackerman, Colin Merrigan, Michael Scimeca and Brian Wise will be sponsored by Seaford American Legion Post No. 1132.

This year’s Boys State conference runs from June 28 to July 3 at SUNY Morrisville. Qualified male high school juniors participate in a practical government course designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of government and to impress upon them the fact that their government is just what they make of it. Only young men with outstanding qualifications in leadership, character, scholarship, service and citizenship and who have a serious attitude toward intensive citizenship training are selected.

Seaford High School Principal Scott Bersin and faculty members selected eight juniors, who were then interviewed by representatives from the Seaford American Legion. They selected Craig, Colin, Michael and Brian to represent the post this year.
