Throughout the summer, Northeast Elementary School in Amityville held its Summer Academic Success Program in which students learned in a fun and creative atmosphere.
The lessons were designed to enhance academic achievement. Students enjoyed field trips to the Center for Science, Teaching, and Learning, the Long Island Children’s Museum and the Cradle of Aviation Museum. The Amityville Public Library’s librarian read to the students and marine educators visited students to teach them about sea explorers.
Each week, Northeast had Parent Universities to work with parents on age and grade appropriate topics to reinforce at home. There were plenty smiles throughout the summer as students and teachers worked together on different activities each day.
