Elizabeth D. Zubko, CPA Joins Life’s WORC as Chief Financial Officer

Life’s WORC (www.lifesworc.org), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism through its residential, community and trust services, announced that Elizabeth D. Zubko, CPA has been appointedChief Financial Officer. Zubko brings over 35 years of experience in accounting and executive-level financial management. Her expertise and financial leadership spans over key disciplines including, strategic oversight and planning, internal controls, regulatory compliance, human resources, and operations.

“We are proud to have attracted such a high caliber professional as Elizabeth to the vital role of Chief Financial Officer,” said Life’s WORC CEO Janet Koch. “Over the course of her career, she has demonstrated initiative, foresight and the ability to effectively support executive-level decision-making across diverse areas of operations. I am confident that Elizabeth will be a valued team member and asset to our organization as we advance past our first 50 years in operation to our next chapter in providing essential services to people with disabilities and autism.”

Zubko was last employed with The Beacon Group/Beacon Therapy Services (Roslyn, NY) where she served as Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer. During her six-year tenure, she supported the president in strategic oversight, assuming a lead role in the CEO’s absence, provided financial statements and data, focused on maximizing growth and profitability, and built strategic client relationships resulting in new business and increased cash flows. Her role also encompassed various human resource and compliance functions.

From 2001 to 2014, Zubko was employed by North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System (Great Neck, NY). While there, she rose through the ranks from Assistant Director/Site Controller at Glen Cove Hospital (Glen Cove, NY), and Associate Executive Director of Finance/CFO with Franklin Hospital (Valley Stream, NY) and finally to Deputy Executive Director and CFO at Franklin Hospital (Valley Stream, NY). Her contributions were many and included restructuring operations for greater productivity and cost control; providing strategic oversight of Patient Access Services, Health Information Management, Materials and Nutrition Services, among other areas; leading revenue cycle related compliance; providing financial strategic and financial leadership resulting in successful union negotiations; driving emergency management; and collaborating with cross-functional team to facilitate successful information technology conversions and system upgrades.

Zubko, a Certified Public Accountant, has also served as Manager-Auditing & Consulting with BDO Seidman (Mitchel Field, NY) and Senior Accountant-Audit with Deloitte & Touche(Jericho, NY).  She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus (Greenvale, NY).

Zubko resides in Oyster Bay, NY.
