Several East Meadow High School and W.T. Clarke High School ensembles recently participated in the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival hosted at Hofstra University and Adelphi University.

NYSSMA Major Organization Festivals allow music teachers to bring exceptional ensembles (band, chorus, orchestra or jazz ensemble) to perform for two specially trained adjudicators. The East Meadow School District is proud to announce that the East Meadow High School Wind Ensemble received a rating of Gold with Distinction, and the East Meadow High School Select Chorale received a rating of Gold. W.T. Clarke High School’s Select Chorale, Symphonic Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra each received a rating of Gold with Distinction.

NYSSMA indicates that a rating of Gold is awarded to those ensembles that have demonstrated an outstanding level of technical and artistic skill. A rating of Gold with Distinction is awarded to ensembles that qualify for a Gold rating and have achieved a standard of performance deemed exceptional.

Bravo to all of the students, and the ensemble directors— Mr. Stephen Engle, Ms. Samantha Schick, Mrs. Kaitlin Melker, and Mr. Gregory Krajci, for their hard work and dedication.
