Students from grades 2 and 4 throughout the East Islip School District recently visited an impressive array of interactive displays at the annual STEAM Day, sponsored by the East Islip School Business Partnership. This year, the event expanded to a bigger venue in the East Islip High School gym, and an evening session was added for students, parents and community members to attend.
Several new business partners were also present at STEAM Day, including the Town of Islip, Electrical Training Center and Zebra Technology, helping students to explore the many facets of classes and careers in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Student groups participating included the Art Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, K-5 STEAM program, high school and middle school technology programs, and the high school video production class and WFTK broadcast studio.
“The School Business Partnership is dedicated to continue our 25-year tradition of creating programs from K-12 to help students of East Islip’s schools navigate their skills and talents to be college and career ready,” School Business Partnership coordinator Bridget Lopiccolo said. “STEAM fields are growing by leaps and bounds, and East Islip students will be ready.”
