Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) announced the success of his Thanksgiving food drive. Donations were collected from all over the 21st District and donated to Sharon’s Pantry in Rockville Centre. Additionally, in cooperation with Curran’s office, Green Acres Mall donated turkeys to the Pantry. Sharon’s Pantry, named after Sharon Sheppard, assistant director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, focuses on helping end the scourge of food instability facing the community. Sharon’s Pantry helps provide meals to the homeless, underserved and veterans in Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, Malverne and Baldwin.
“I truly am grateful, but not surprised the residents of the 21st District and Green Acres Mall would come together to help those in need during this holiday season. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and a special thank you to Sharon’s Pantry for going above and beyond to help the less fortunate. The holiday season is the season of giving, so I encourage everyone to give this time of year if you can and help make someone’s holiday extra special,” said Curran.
