The Copiague community came out to celebrate the many accomplishments of the schools and organizations that support the district during the annual Copiague School District Family Fun Festival on May 10. School administrators, teachers, Board of Education members and local politicians joined together with families and residents to share in the district’s successes.
To begin the celebration, Copiague School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Bannon delivered opening remarks and welcomed guests to the event. She shared recent highlights in academic programs as well as improvements in buildings and grounds, thanking the community for their support. Dr. Bannon spotlighted the district’s successful pre-K program, the partnership with the electrical training school, the elementary literacy program, Advanced Placement offerings, and art and music opportunities at every level.
In addition, Copiague School District’s Board of Education President Anthony S. Pepe reflected on all the district has accomplished, while also looking ahead to what can be achieved together. “Our schools continue to be the center of innovation, resilience and academic excellence,” he said. “The accomplishments of our students do not happen by chance; they are the result of steadfast commitment from our educators, our support staff, our administrators and our families and residents. It’s the shared dedication that fuels our momentum and ensures our students are equipped not just for school but for life.”
Students had the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather as guests moved outdoors for fun and games. Elementary students were organized into different color teams and competed in field day-style relay races throughout the morning. Local organizations, including the public library and fire department, had information tables set up for attendees to visit as well.
