Helen B. Duffield Elementary School teacher aide Stella Tsimis is being hailed as a hero by school and Connetquot Central School District employees. On Feb. 1, Ms. Tsimis’ quick thinking and knowledge of the Heimlich maneuver saved the life of a second grade student, who choked during lunchtime.
Principal Lisa Farrell said, “Ms. Tsimis stepped up without hesitation and we all thank her for saving the student’s life. She is a hero.”
