During a celebratory breakfast at Connetquot High School on May 13, District Athletic Director Peter Melore introduced nine former district athletes and two coaches who were inducted to the prestigious 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame inductees are selected by a committee of veteran coaches, teachers and administrators from nominations submitted by qualified, graduated Connetquot student-athletes, coaches and community members.

Mr. Melore told the inductees that this year’s induction celebration represented eight sports and was somewhat unique in that everyone being inducted had excelled in the college ranks and further. He also encouraged the inductees to tour the facilities.

“Look around at the tradition that you built,” Mr. Melore said. “There are people here who are keeping it [the tradition] alive.”

The district congratulates the following individuals who were inducted:

Casey Baker – Class of 2013 – basketball and baseball

Brooke DeRosa – Class of 2001 – soccer

Bryan Heavey – Class of 1976 – swimming
