Connetquot High School participated in the annual Code Conquest Hackathon, held at Eastport-South Manor Jr.-Sr. High School, which hosted 18 high school teams from Suffolk and Nassau counties.
This was the first live hackathon event for the team of expert programmers and the team managed to place eighth, or in the top 50%. The team was also first to score points and made a record nine defenses.
The Hackathon platform was kidOYO in which contenders were presented a map with programmatic challenges of air, water, earth and fire. Participants had three hours to conquer as much of the map as possible, which each component resulting in point values. Executive Director and Founder Melora Loffreto described the event as a combination of strategy and programming skills.
