Connetquot Central School District elementary students were visited by their respective fire departments during the month of October in recognition of Fire Prevention Week. The bright red fire trucks parked in the schools’ parking lots served as a classroom where students learned the essentials of fire safety.
The First Responders explained the importance of fire detectors, discussed the importance of a safety plan, explained their equipment and asked that the students never hide from a fireman.
The highlight of the fire departments’ visits, however, was the students’ invitation to explore the fire trucks and to climb out of the window of a smoke house.
