At its Feb. 26 meeting, the Connetquot Central School District Board of Education recognized several high school staff members for their heroic efforts during a medical emergency.
Connetquot High School Principal Michael Moran explained that last month, a student came into the library at the start of the school day when Ms. Ferreira and Ms. Carr noticed he wasn’t himself. They notified the student’s first period teacher, Ms. McAleavey, who walked him down to the nurse where emergency services were called.
The board and district administrators thanked the three staff members for their quick-thinking actions and for going above and beyond when they noticed something wrong.
“This is an example of how three of our family members here in Connetquot did a real solid job and were truly heroic in helping to save a life and make a difference for one of our children,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Centamore said.
