The community came out to show its pride during the General Douglas MacArthur homecoming parade and game against Long Beach on Sept. 24.

Community Marches Strong For MacArthur High School Homecoming

The General Douglas MacArthur High School homecoming court took to the field before the game on Sept. 24. Michael Cassano and Sofia Anderson, fifth and sixth from left, were crowned king and queen.

The parade kicked off at Gardiners Avenue Elementary School and student representatives from various teams and clubs marched to the high school led by central office administrators, board of education members, the marching band and Grand Marshals Alana D’Andrea, Stephanie Church, Michael Vaughn and Robert Wetzel. The Jonas E. Salk Middle School marching band concluded the parade as they proceeded toward the field.

Levittown Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Beth Zirogiannis, Superintendent Todd Winch and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Debbie Rifkin attended homecoming with The General.

Before the game, seniors on the football and cheerleading teams as well as those in marching band and kickline were escorted by loved ones and individually recognized on the field. Each nominee on the homecoming court was also announced, and Michael Cassano and Sofia Anderson were crowned homecoming king and queen.

Senior Rocco Hogan made a run.

MacArthur Generals burst through the banner and took to the field to face off against the Long Beach Marines. During halftime, kickline, marching band, and cheerleaders from the varsity, junior varsity and middle school teams entertained the crowd.

The varsity cheerleading team performed for the crowd during halftime.

Although the game ended with their opponents victorious, the Generals look forward to dominating in upcoming games.
