On Jan. 16 and 17, seventh graders and selected staff members at Beach Street and Udall Road middle schools in the West Islip Union Free School District participated in a Changemaker Hub event facilitated by World Savvy.
Changemaker Hubs are day-long design thinking experiences that encourage students to explore an essential question: “How can we transform education to ensure that all young people have a safe and inclusive school where they develop the essential skills they need to thrive in a complex and interconnected world?” Changemaker Hubs aim to inspire positive change and foster a sense of social responsibility among students and staff.
The Changemaker Hub covered a range of topics, including innovative approaches to problem-solving, community engagement and the power of collaboration. The goal is to empower students with the skills and mindset needed to become changemakers in their own lives and communities.
