Celebrate St. James Lines Up Holiday Schedule At The New Community Cultural Arts Center

Celebrate St. James will host several events this holiday season in its new home at the historic Calderone Theatre. The events are a part of a fundraising campaign for the purchase and renovation of the historic, over 100-year-old building located at 176 Second Street in St. James to create The St. James Community Cultural Arts Center with a small theatre and outdoor plaza.

Friday, December 3rd 7pm: Vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley: If It Wasn’t for the Irish and the Jews

Highly acclaimed musician, recording artist, author, and radio and television personality Mick Moloney will talk on the wonderful Irish and Jewish collaborations that contributed to the history of musical theater and will feature rare images and archival film footage.

Saturday, December 11th 1pm: Children’s Holiday Party

An afternoon party featuring a “Holiday Hoopla Puppet Show” along with a visit from Santa, a children’s craft, story time and refreshments. Recommended for children ages 4-8.

Saturday, December 11th 6-9pm: Celebrate St. James will join in the festivities of the Lake Avenue Winter Walk with an open house at the Calderone Theatre, serving hot cocoa and holiday treats while offering tours of the second-floor museum and a preview of the Holiday Art Exhibit set to officially open on Sunday.

Sunday, December 12th 1-3pm: Art Exhibit – Artists Celebrate the Holidays

An inspiring display of winter and holiday images, the opening reception will include a holiday musical interlude and refreshments will be served.

Celebrate St. James, a 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization has been working to revitalize the community and drive economic growth since its inception. The organization was instrumental in driving the town ordinance to create a Cultural and Arts overlay district along Lake Avenue, and the Town of Smithtown is in the construction process of building Celebrate Park using funds raised by Celebrate St. James.
