BlueprintMD Joins Forces With Legislator Abrahams And TRIMZ To Support 18th Annual KUTZ FOR EDU

(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D – Freeport) is pleased to announce that BlueprintMD is joining forces with his office and TRIMZ Barber Shop owner Leon Levar Broughton as sponsors of the 18th annual KUTZ FOR EDU back-to-school giveaway for Legislative District 1 and 5 students on Saturday, Aug. 19.

BlueprintMD’s financial contribution will go a long way toward enhancing the success of this annual back-to-school tradition, in which backpacks and school supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis; they will also be sponsoring a medical van that will provide health screenings for attendees.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to play games and enjoy a video game truck, face painters, an ice cream truck and other light refreshments and snacks as they receive free haircuts from TRIMZ Barber Shop, sneakers from Heeling Soles, school supplies and other essentials while supplies last.

“During the last two decades, it has been wonderful to see how the community has supported the academic success of our youth by rallying around the KUTZ FOR EDU back-to-school celebration,” Legislator Abrahams said. “We are all tremendously grateful to BlueprintMD for stepping forward with such a generous donation toward this event – one that I know will greatly augment this event for all in attendance.”

KUTZ FOR EDU is presented in partnership with Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport); Heeling Soles, Inc. and Steve Muir; and Glory House Recovery, Inc. and Terenna Williams, with support from the Incorporated Village of Freeport and sponsors Bethpage Federal Credit Union, the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association; and Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus which is providing bookbags and other supplies. Additional sponsors that contribute to the success of the event include Affinity by Molina Healthcare, Millennium Sistahs, Catholic Health Mercy Hospital, the U.S. Army, Krystal Touch of New York, Unitees, 4M Photos, and Freeport Garage Door Company, Inc.

The Barber & Beauty Institute will provide volunteer barbers, and Mr. B’s will furnish salon chairs for the pop-up barbershop – a signature element of the event that helps to ensure every student has the essentials they need for a strong start to the 2023-24 school year.

Parents and guardians are asked to remember that children and the adult must be together when receiving haircuts and picking up school supplies, sneakers, and other items.
