Blue Point Elementary School social worker Brooke Yonick hosted an “Energy Bus Assembly” for all students in kindergarten through second grade. The assembly centered around students creating positive goals for themselves and learning what it means to belong.

“Our vision at Blue Point Elementary is to create a building that makes belonging a priority,” said Ms. Yonick. Following her explanation, she read “A Kids Book About Belonging” by Kevin Carroll to the students. They were then asked, “What makes you feel like you belong?” and answers ranged from new friends and siblings to teachers and their principal, Ms. Tara Falasco.

Finally, 11 students received a “You’re the Driver” certificate, recognizing that they took responsibility for their actions and how they treated others.
