Dogwood Elementary School students met three fine-feathered friends on March 6. Birds Turnip, Aurora and Stich were part of a presentation led by Sweetbriar Nature Center representative, James MacDougall.
Among the things Dogwood students learned was that owls have three eyelids and have twice as many neck bones as humans do.
Turnip is an Eastern Screech Owl and Aurora is a Spectacle Owl native to South America. Stitch is a red-tailed hawk.
