Academy Auto Body students in Brian LaBarba’s class at Milliken Tech are hard at work repairing suspension components, installing bumper covers, re-aligning frames, welding and grinding, replacing window motors and more. What they learn here in class will prepare them for successful careers right out of high school.
“My students are learning to do everything required in independent, chain and dealership auto body shops everywhere,” explained LaBarba. “Our program integrates soft skills — customer service, communication, teamwork – as well as all specialized mechanical qualifications.”
The Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology, referred to as the Academy, is the Career and Technical Education Program of Eastern Suffolk BOCES and has locations in Bellport, Oakdale, and Riverhead. Milliken Tech is located on the Oakdale campus.
