A Sense Of Place Fine Art Showcase At Mills Pond Gallery July 15 – August 11, 2023

Smithtown Township Arts Council is pleased to announce A Sense of Place fine art exhibition featuring 62 works by 54 artists from 35 communities across Long Island. The exhibit runs July 15 through August 11 at Mills Pond Gallery in St. James. Regular Gallery hours are Wed. – Fri., 10 am – 4pm; Sat. and Sun., 12 – 4 pm. The gallery is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Visit millspondgallery.org or call 631-862-6575 for directions or information. Admission to the gallery is always free. Please use our rear parking lot off Mills Pond Road, directly across from the two white stone pillars at Flowerfield Celebrations, 199 Mills Pond Rd. The public is invitedl to  an opening reception on Saturday, July 15  1 pm – 4 pm  to meet the artists and enjoy the wonderful art!

We asked artists to creatively capture what they experience, appreciate, or connect to in their Long Island homeland. We hope the exhibited artwork will inspire visitors to explore L. I.  places that might be unfamiliar to them and be encouraged to appreciate the importance of protecting and preserving them. Artists created work in Acrylic, Charcoal, Ink, Watercolor, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Torn Paper Collage, Collage Quilt, and Etching.
