Options for Community Living, Inc., a Long Island based not-for-profit organization, has received a 2020 Cigna Well-Being Award. This recognition demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of its employees through a workplace wellness program. Options was recognized in the NY/NJ market, receiving Cigna’s 2nd tier award level “Honorable Culture of Well-Being”.
“As a human service organization, our programs are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of Long Island’s most vulnerable residents,” commented Yolanda Robano-Gross, Options’ Executive Director. “When our staff nurture their personal wellbeing, they are better prepared to help our clients meet their wellness goals.”
Cigna Well-Being Award applicants are evaluated based on the core components of their wellness program, including leadership engagement, company culture, strategy and goals, implementation, and employee engagement. All applications are scored and reviewed by a panel of Cigna health promotion experts.
“It’s an incredible achievement for our team to receive this honor from Cigna. Cigna is a wonderful partner,” said Lori Barraud, Options Human Resources Director. “I’m proud of our employees’ commitment to a workplace culture infused with health and wellness goals. Our employees are what made this award possible.”
As part of its wellness program, Options employees engage in different activities that promote physical, emotional, environmental, financial, and social well-being. This includes activities like financial literacy seminars, wellness committee meetings, breast cancer screenings, health fairs, community volunteer days, charity walks, and virtual group exercises like chair yoga.
“I really love that Options provides free yoga classes during our lunch break. It is a relaxing way to break up the workday, boost energy and increase my focus” said Ayla Lord, Options Quality Improvement Data Coordinator.
