Woodward Parkway Elementary School has won second place in the PSEG Long Island Energy Efficiency Kit Challenge! They were awarded a check for $750 at a recent PTA meeting.
The contest kicked off with a performance by the National Theatre for Children called The Conservation Caper—a show designed to engage elementary school students and empower them with energy-saving tools. From there, PTA mom Gina Brinskelle organized the school’s participation in the contest and helped facilitate the distribution of free energy efficiency kits to teachers and families. The top three elementary and middle schools across Long Island that saved the most energy by requesting the most kits won grand prizes of $500, $750, and $1,500.
All of us at Woodward Parkway thank our students, staff, and parents for helping us win second place!” said Ms. Brinskelle. “Congratulations to Woodward Parkway Elementary School for taking second prize in the PSEG Long Island Energy Efficiency Kit Challenge,” said Suzanne Brienza, director of customer
experience and utility marketing, PSEG Long Island, who is also a Farmingdale resident. “We are glad the students and staff enjoyed the show as much as we enjoyed sponsoring it. The added incentive of the challenge offered families the opportunity to put energy conservation ideas into practice – by providing free LED light bulbs and the chance for their school to get a monetary prize for most sign ups – it’s a win-win-win.”
