Residents of The Bristal Give Back to Community

The Bristal Assisted Living Communities have created the Helping Hands Community Volunteer Program which allows residents to take part in service-based projects and stay active and engaged as volunteers across Long Island.

Members of the Helping Hands Community Volunteer Program knit, bake, craft, and shop for local charities on a monthly basis. Members put their sewing and knitting needles together to make caps for newborns and chemotherapy patients, as well as quilted pillows and blankets for hospitals and animal shelters. During the Easter and Christmas holidays, members shop for gifts and practical items for those in need. Other members make and sell handcrafted items and donate proceeds to local charities such as the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center. Volunteers from all of The Bristal communities around Long Island, got together at The Bristal at Jericho to celebrate their accomplishments, share ideas, and meet others who share their passion for giving back to the community.

Residents of The Bristal communities in East Northport, Holtsville, Jericho, Lake Grove, Massapequa, North Hills and North Woodmere participated in the event.
