The Town of Smithtown Recreation Department has opened registration for Camp SMILE (Smithtown Motivating Individuals thru Leisure and Entertainment), a summer recreation program designed specifically for children with developmental disabilities. Families can enroll their children (ages 6-17) in this enriching Summer camp experience online, using a simple registration form. Camp SMILE will run three 2 week sessions, and take place on weekdays (Monday – Friday) from 9am – noon at Fort Salonga Elementary School.

Camp SMILE is tailored to children ages 6-17 who are enrolled in special education programs across the township’s school districts. The camp aims to provide a supportive and fun environment where campers can engage in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, field and playground time (weather permitting), gymnasium games, and other forms of entertainment scheduled weekly.
Camp SMILE Details
- Dates: Weekdays (Monday – Friday)
○ Session One 7.01 – 7.12 (NO CAMP 7.04)
○ Session Two 7.15 – 7.26
○ Session Three 7.29 – 8.9
○ 1 Week Option: Session One – 7.01 – 7.05 (NO CAMP 7.04) - Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Location: Fort Salonga Elementary School, 39 Sunken Meadow Rd, Fort Salonga, NY
- Session Details/Cost:
○ Three 2-week sessions available for $165.00 per camper
○ A special 1-week session from July 1 – July 5 (no camp on July 4) for $82.50 per
camper
