Ward Melville High School students took part in the 2024 Long Island Regional Student Forum held at Western Suffolk BOCES on Feb. 29. Senior members of the Ward Melville student government Elizabeth Kiernan and Angelina Lawlor took part in student-facilitated discussions with peers from more than 40 Long Island school districts. They shared their experiences on important issues facing schools today including mental health, real-world learning, school environments, social media and balancing school and daily life. Kiernan and Lawlor did a phenomenal job representing the Three Village community and shared in honest discussions with a diverse group of students.
At the end of the forum, students shared their insights with the group which will be passed along to administrators of the respective districts as well as New York State. It was an opportunity for student voices to be heard and the students involved ended with a new sense of pride for themselves and the connections they made.
