On Aug. 24, Connetquot High School seniors gathered for the third annual senior paint day where students took to the pavement, creating colorful, creative designs on their individual parking spaces.
This year, with the help of brushes, stencils and paint rollers, 210 parking spots were transformed into colorful canvases. Paint day has become a highly anticipated event where oftentimes, students work together, along with family members and friends, to meticulously design and carry out their artistic vision.
Each student purchases their parking space earlier in the year, and the money raised helps to fund student activities throughout the school year.
Connetquot High School teachers and student government advisers Sal Piscitelli and Jennifer Piscitelli oversaw the day. “They’re really creative and take pride in their work,” said Jennifer, speaking of the students’ efforts. “It’s all student planned. They all collaborate with each other, and the parents get involved.”
The seniors are looking forward to using their spaces as they drive up on the first day of school on Sept. 6.
