BSA Troop 399 Visited Historical Sites In Philadelphia

On the weekend of April 1st, BSA Troop 399 visited historical sites in Philadelphia. The troop learned about the history of the United States by touring museums and sites of historical significance such as the National Constitution Center, the Independence National Historic Park and Liberty Bell Center, and others. The youth led an historical walking tour that included the site of Ben Franklin’s Philadelphia home. Attendees had an opportunity to see the room where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed by the founding fathers at Independence Hall and learn about these momentous events from a knowledgeable park ranger. The trip culminated in a hike through Valley Forge Historical National Park, George Washington’s Continental Army winter encampment, 1777-1778, where youth and parents went inside the dwellings of revolutionary soldiers, stood under the National Arch, and visited other notable sites.
