The Commack School District paid tribute to veterans and active military members with a Tribute to the Troops ceremony and lacrosse game on Tuesday, April 25th. Held at Commack High School’s Heroes Memorial Field, the event united members of the Commack community and the lacrosse team to honor the brave men and women who serve our country.
Dr. Jordan F. Cox, the son of a veteran and Superintendent of Commack Schools, reflected on the sacrifices that families make when a loved one enlists in the service of our country. Distinguished speakers included Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney, Edmund Smith, Huntington Town Supervisor, and Edward Wehrheim, Smithtown Town Supervisor.
The Commack Cougars varsity boys lacrosse team competed against William Floyd in a game that showcased sportsmanship and dedication to the cause. The game was close, and both teams fought hard until the end. The Commack Cougars emerged victorious with an 8-7 win against William Floyd in overtime.
The Commack School District is committed to honoring those who have served and ensuring that their sacrifice is never forgotten. This event was a meaningful way to demonstrate that commitment and show appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military members and their families.
