Legislator Steven J. Flotteron recognized West Islip Fire Department Ex-Chief Kevin Parrett for his years of service to the community. Following in the footsteps of his father, Jack Parrett, he joined the West Islip Fire Department in 1986. He spent many years as an active member of the Vanguard Engine Company and served in the ranks of Lieutenant and Captain in that company. In 2013, he was elected as 3rd Assistant Chief of the West Islip Fire Department. In the following several years he ascended the Assistant Chief ranks and was elected Chief of the Department in 2019. He served proudly and with the respect of the Department until his term ended in 2021. During his tenure in office, Chief Parrett was responsible for leading the Department through the unprecedented global pandemic of COVID and did so in a distinguished manner. His legacy will be remembered as one of dedication to duty, the community and the members of his Department.
