Copiague athletic department recently unveiled its upgraded fitness center at Walter G. O’Connell High School. “We have made significant changes to our student-athletes for years to come,” said William Bennett, director of physical education and athletics. “Improving our athletic facilities has been a priority of ours, and this has been one very exciting step in that process.” The new state-of-the-art equipment will allow students to exercise in a safe and healthy environment. Most of the equipment features the school’s colors or has been branded with the eagle logo. “It is very important that our students get a sense of pride when they walk into that room,” Bennett added. “To date, the reaction from our students has been extremely positive and appreciative.
