The Bellport Middle School History Club, advised by Romelo Green, recently enjoyed a field trip to the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society.
During the trip, students participated in a tour by Historical Society Director Tricia Foley, who showcased the Post-Crowell House, taught its history and discussed the families who owned it dating back to the late 18th century. She also described the house’s architecture, tea and shipbuilding history. The students were able to tour the blacksmith
shop and the barn museum, which contained many historical artifacts.
“I found this was a rewarding experience for our History Club members, as it allowed them to research and learn more about our local history in a practical way,” said Green.
