East Islip High School’s orchestra and choral student-musicians visited East Islip Middle School on Dec. 22 to “bridge the gap” between buildings by engaging in musical activities and mentoring the younger students. The high school orchestra played holiday carols side-by-side with the middle school’s eighth-grade orchestra.
“It was such a fun experience for all to come together and play,” Orchestra Director Giovanna Ruggiero said.
“This was an amazing opportunity for our older learners to share their musical experiences and passion for music, and for our younger children to ask questions about being in the high school,” said Dr. Robert J. Wottawa II, the district’ director of art and music.
