Students taking sports and entertainment management at Sachem High School East recently visited MetLife Stadium, the home of the NY Giants and Jets, with business teacher, Mrs. Cannetti. Students learned about the brief history of the stadium, including that it is the largest football stadium in the U.S. and only one of two NFL venues to host two franchises. Additionally, the venue accommodates many events other than football games.

Students got a firsthand look at the different clubs and suites available to different ticket holders, including the Commissioner’s Club and Giants Legacy Club, which is filled with tokens of Giants history such as trophies and Super Bowl rings. They also stopped at the control room, press box and interview room.

The trip gave students insight into behind-the-scenes management and marketing, as well as the enormous operating costs that go into running a professional sports venue. They were able to connect concepts they’ve learned in class to the real world. Students valued the experience and will remember the trip for years to come.
