Learning German Pays Off For Massapequa Ninth Grader

Madisen Rosso, a ninth grader at Massapequa High School’s Ames Campus, is a 2022 scholarship award recipient from the German-American Committee of Greater New York. She received a $1,500 prize.

The annual competition in open to students in grades 8-12 and college, and applicants must have at least a 90 grade point average. Madisen, who applied for the scholarship at the end of eighth grade, wrote an essay explaining her interest in German heritage, the German language and German-American contributions to the community or the United States.

GACGNY oversees many activities and endeavors relating to the German-American

community in the Metropolitan area. Madisen said that studying German in school and being recognized for her efforts is an unforgettable experience.

Madisen’s German teacher, Dean Guarnaschelli encourages Madison to keep up the good works, or as they say in German, “Mach weiter so!”
