Welcoming Dr. Tony Abraham, new Nuclear Radiologist to New York Imaging Specialists!

New York Imaging Specialists is pleased to welcome Tony Abraham, DO, MPA, an esteemed board-certified nuclear radiologist to the team.

During his career, Dr. Abraham has held key positions in the field of Nuclear Medicine at the regional and national levels of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). He comes to us after having served as the Program Director for the Nuclear Medicine Residency in the Department of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center where he was also an Associate Professor of Radiology.

Dr. Abraham views NY Imaging Specialists as the type of facility where he can optimally put his skills to good use. “NY Imaging Specialists stands at the forefront of providing state-of-the-art medical care across multiple specialties,” Dr. Abraham said. “I believe my educational, academic and research background, as well as involvement in community health and service as a global health scholar will work synergistically with NY Imaging Specialists to bring the best care to our patients, with a personal touch and compassion.”

After graduating from New York University, where Dr. Abraham earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Dr. Abraham completed an internship at Westchester Medical Center. After finishing his residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital/NYU School of Medicine, he completed a nuclear medicine residency where he served as Chief Resident at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Abraham completed his PET/CT and Nuclear Oncology fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Abraham sees this as a very exciting time in nuclear medicine, with the coming years holding great promise for patients. “We expect more and more diagnostic tracers for specific cancers entering the clinical arena,” he said. This, in turn, will result in more targeted molecular therapies, which will then have a positive impact on patient’s lives.

Currently, he is a member of both the American College of Radiology and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, serves on committees of SNMMI at the regional, and national levels and is the current Program Chairman of the SNMMI Greater NY Chapter. His work has been published in numerous peer-review journals. To make an appointment with Dr. Abraham, please call 833-269-4624. For more information, please visit https://nyimaging.com/.
