Toys for Tots Drive a Great Success at Barnum Woods

The student council of Barnum Woods Elementary School in the East Meadow School District hosted a toy drive for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. The drive was an overwhelming success, with hundreds of toys collected. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jeremiah Johnson and Sergeant Tyree Stevens visited the school on Dec. 13 to pick up the donations.

Cartons were placed in the school’s main lobby to collect new, unwrapped toys. Student council members encouraged donations by creating posters, visiting classrooms and making daily announcements over the loudspeaker. They stressed the importance of demonstrating kindness and helping others.

The toys will be distributed to underprivileged children to bring them holiday cheer. The district thanks all those who made donations for this worthy cause.
