Seaford Humanities Leader Brings a Passion for Education

The Seaford School District welcomes Dr. Charles Leone as the executive director for humanities for the 2019-20 school year. He comes to Seaford with 38 years of experience in education and will supervise the district’s English, reading, social studies, world language and English as a new language programs at all levels.

Dr. Leone served for 16 years as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Manhasset School District. He was an elementary and middle school teacher in Great Neck, and also has experience as an assistant principal at the elementary and middle school levels.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Buffalo State College, a master’s degree in elementary education from Queens College, a master’s degree in building and district administration from the College of New Rochelle and a doctorate in administration and instructional leadership from St. John’s University. Dr. Leone is a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Professional Learning Association, and is a past member of the executive board of the Nassau Association of District Curriculum Officials.

“I am very excited to join a highly regarded team of educators and have received a very warm welcome,” he said. “I hope to make a positive contribution to Seaford’s solid programs in English, reading, social studies, world language and English as a new language. I am very passionate about the teaching-learning process and have remained committed to that throughout my career.”
