RACING TO SUPPORT MPS RESEARCH– All ages coming out to support National MPS Society.
The Post Office Cafe in Babylon is hosting the 27th Annual Race for MPS on Saturday, October 20th in celebration of Mark and Casey Lessing. Proceeds from the race will benefit the National MPS Society, Inc.
Registration and check-ins begin at 8 a.m. at The Post Office Café. The 1K fun run begins promptly at 9:30 a.m., and the 5K at 10 a.m. Pre-registration, prior to October 7, costs $13.00 for the fun run and $25.00 for the 5K. Cost to register after October 7 is $15.00 for the fun run and $30.00 for the 5K.
Online registration closes on Thursday, October 19th at midnight.Thereafter, runners must register in-person at The Post Office Café.

The course is 3.1 miles – fast, flat and scenic. The race begins in the heart of the Babylon Village and continues through country roads overlooking the Great South Bay. The finish line is behind The Post Office Café in the municipal parking lot.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female runners. In addition, awards will be given to the top three runners in eleven different age groups. A special award will be given to the first male and first female Babylon Village residents to cross the finish line.
PRE-RACE PARTY
On Friday, October 19th from 4 to 8 p.m., The Post Office Café is hosting a “pre-race” party. Runners are encouraged to join the fun, pick up race shirts and bibs, and enjoy a complimentary buffet and drink on the house. T-shirts are available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) is a rare disease in which the body is missing or does not have enough of an enzyme needed to break down long chains of sugar molecules. The condition belongs to a group of diseases called Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs). MPS I is the most common type.
