Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. (www.pal-o-mine.org, Islandia, NY), a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, announced that it has been awarded a $8,500 grant from the E.J. Autism Foundation. The funds will be used for a 12-week life skills program that incorporates horses to teach teamwork, responsibility, decision making, expressive language and compassion. Eight students from the Bayport-Blue Point School District will attend this weekly program.
“We are very excited about this program, and appreciate the E.J. Autism Foundation’s support which will help eight students benefit from our equine program,” said Pal-O-Mine CEO, Lisa Gatti. “These students will participate in an unmounted program, with lessons tailored to help each individual build skills and gain confidence from working with our horses in various exercises.”
