The Melville Fire Department invites the community to join them at their Fire Safety and Prevention Open House on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 11am – 2pm at Melville Fire Headquarters at 531 Sweet Hollow Road behind Dunkin’ Donuts.
There will be many events and demonstrations, as well as fire prevention information and plenty of giveaways. Children will be able to practice getting out of their house in case of fire in the Fire Safety House. Melville’s bravest will extinguish an actual car fire and demonstrate the “Jaws of Life” rescue tools. Melville’s EMT’s will treat and remove a simulated victim from a car crash. There is an inflatable Bounce House for the kids and free Blood Pressure screenings. Visitors can also obtain information on becoming an Explorer (ages 14 to 17) or a Volunteer (age 18 and above). There are free raffles for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers. Free refreshments and snacks will be served.
