At Lindenhurst High School, veterans representing the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps spoke with social studies classes. The speakers shared their experiences of enlisting, serving and returning home from war. Organized by the school’s MCJROTC, the honored guests took the time to answer students’ questions.
Speakers included Lindenhurst alumnus Larry Zeller (Class of 1966), a U.S. Navy Corpsman; U.S. Marine Jim Gallagher (Class of 1977) and Lindenhurst High School teacher and U.S. Marine Tommy Carro.
Also, addressing students were Brian Baker (U.S. Marine Corps), John Bopp (U.S. Marine Corps), Joe Ingino (U.S. Army), Antonio Martins (U.S. Marine Corps), David Rosenbrock (U.S. Marine Corps), Raymond Stopinski (U.S. Marine Corps), Stacy Tapler (U.S. Marine Corps), Adrian Valencia (U.S. Marine Corps) and Christopher Wilkens (U.S. Marine Corps). The event was organized through the district’s MCJROTC program led by Chief Warrant Officer 4 Christine Glynn and Master Sgt. Magdolna Resker, who comprise the only dual female instructor team in the worldwide MCJROTC program.
The members of the MCJROTC program joined with other members of the Lindenhurst school community and took part in the annual Run for the Warriors in support of the dedicated men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as, their families and the families of the fallen.
